Happiest 5K Color Run 2017

I’ve always wanted to do a color run, especially at citifield! ย This year the unicorn medal made it more reason to sign up! Then Team YUMFITRUN was formed ๐Ÿ™‚ I was pretty disappointed that I had forgotten my sunglasses – but it was all smiles being at citified with these amazing people! After the run, there were stands giving out free things – including free ice cream that was actually made with greek yogurt but tasted like ice cream called YASSO?! I had the coffee chocolate chip stick bar and it was so incredibly good! I also had the black raspberry chip flavor.. just thinking about them, I want one now. I had a blast and I couldn’t have asked for a better group to do my first color run with! #happiest5K

Grete’s Great Gallop Half Marathon Recap

To finish the Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Fred’s Team Presents Grete’s Great Gallop half marathon was a goal I had set for myself back in May 2015. I didn’t think I could do it in October 2015, so I didn’t sign up for the run. However, this year I signed up and told myself whether I run, walk or crawl.. I’m going to pass that finish line. It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone, but sleep is the most important thing for a run! The night before the run was my friend’s wedding, and some of my friends and I went bowling afterwards at around 11pm. A huge part of me knew I was going to regret it in the morning but I really wanted to hang out with the boys and thought, “Oh heck, I’ll be fine!” (Don’t be like me, get an adequate amount of sleep – your body […]

Wanderlust 108 Brooklyn 2016 Recap

Wanderlust 108 is something I’ve been wanting to attend, and when I saw that one of the stops this year was in Brooklyn, I quickly signed up and bought a ticket! For those that have never heard of Wanderlust 108 before, the event is basically broken down into 3 parts: 5K, Yoga and Meditation, in what they refer to as a mindful triathlon for the mind, body and soul. Plus there’s a DJ, Kula Market selling crafts and stands of healthy foods. I had a good time at Wanderlust 108 Brooklyn in Prospect Park. Only downside was lack of preparation on my part. I took the train to Brooklyn and got off at a stop near Prospect Park, but forgetting to check which part of the park I needed to be in. I got off at a stop that was VERY far from Nethermead lawn which I had to walk […]

The First Time I Ran in a Race

NYRR RUN 5K:ย This was my very first organized run ever. August 6, 2015 @ Central park. I had been wanting to get into running for some time. Knowing I had to start somewhere, finally I did the unthinkable and signed myself up for this race, just to see what it was like and if I could actually do it. I got there late and almost decided to just forget about it. Luckily my mom was there to push me to do it, so I ran to the start line which was nowhere close to the subway station. At the end of the day, I was able to say I ran my very first 3.1 miles. Haha, I didn’t train or anything so who am I kidding? Of course, I didn’t run the whole thing without walking a mile or two. Point is I crossed the finish line. Because this was […]

NYC Sweat Tour 2016 Recap

Back in June, a friend signed me up for an event that took place in New York City, specifically at Basketball City in Lower Manhattan. It was an event sponsored by Adidas, for us to work out with Kayla Itsines (the creator of BBG), which New York was one of the many stops that were part of the Sweat with Kayla Tour. Thousands of attendees showed up for this intense-yet-fun workout. The room was packed and filled with so much energy. Had lots of fun, so glad I went! Thankful for the opportunity to attend. XOXO

LA BlogFest 2016 Recap

I stumbled upon something fascinating in which I applied to not really thinking much of it when I was doing research about a career in the fitness industry.ย Of course, I wanted to be chosen but I knew my chances of being selected were probably slim.ย I eventually got an email saying:ย “We received hundreds of applications and accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. While you are a great applicant and I wish we had enough space for everyone, we are unfortunately at max capacity right now. I have put you on the wait list in case anything should open up.” I was bummed out, especially knowing I could have applied sooner but instead procrastinated,ย but I remained somewhat hopeful.ย Out of curiosity, I found out I was about 40th on that list. I soon pushed the idea aside, thinking 40 people to turn this event down would be unlikely.ย This was in March, so I […]
